I was in Ludlow, CA 50 miles east of Barstow when a friend from back home called and told us what was going on. We didn't get to see it till we got to the truck wash in Barstow. All I could think about was who did I know that could be there. Like when the earthquake happened in LA what driver did I know that might be there. Last year Pete and I was in New York City delivering a big generator to the UN Building and I got to ride the subway to Ground Zero on 9/10. I interviewed people for a column I do in 10-4 Magazine every month. It was remembering 8 years later. It was the first time I had been to Ground Zero and it is really something to see how close the buildings were to it and the gapping hole in the middle of all these buildings. If you would like to read the story I wrote and see the pictures I took you can go to www.tenfourmagazine.com click on Archived Articles then on Regular Columns and then on Trucker Talk and go to Oct 2009. The man across the street really touched me. The pictures he has on his wall. Telling me names of the people and how many people they saved and they didn't make it out. And the worker that gave me a hat pin that they would be using the next day at the memorial I will treasure. My dear friend Bette Garber went to NYC and did a story on a friend of ours that hauled one of the fire trucks to Los Angeles. It's one of the saddest times in our history that you will always remember where you where on that sunny Sept. day. God Bless the ones lost and keep remembering them! Mr. H's Mom
